Dr. Byongjin Ahn is Professor in the Global Academy for Future Civilizations at Kyung Hee University in Seoul, Korea. He is formerly rector at Global Academy for Future Civilizations. He is currently co-representative at People for Earth. He is also an op-ed columnist for Joongang Daily Newspaper and guest commentator for the Korean Broadcasting System(KBS).

“Suite for ARMY” is a classically composed work inspired by the musical analysis of BTS’ complete discography and research into their classical influences. Its name pays homage to the ARMY and gives form to the piece while the interwoven movements chronical the philosophical and personal developments of BTS & ARMY.

This presentation examines queer fandoms and challenges to the status quo in terms of gender and sexuality through a case study of China’s boycott of BTS.

Despite Weibo being one of the most popular mainstream social media platforms conducting censorship upon erotic and queer content, Chinese BTS CP fans (fans who enjoy matchmaking among BTS members) still manage to generate a place for their queer FanFiction based on the Weibo super-topic function.
